How to Change the Favicon in Blogger in Easy Steps

What is Fav Icon?

A favicon is the icon seen next to your site URL. It is also the icon that appears on the tab window when someone opens your site. In Blogger, the favicon looks like this:

Why Do Bloggers Change the Favicon?

Blogger change the favicon because they want their site to look like more professional. After they change their blog site’s layout, the next thing they usually do is to change the favicon.

There are lots of ways to change the favicon. However, I’ve chosen to write the easiest step. Read on:

Easy Steps in Changing the Favicon:

1. Choose your own favicon in iconJ. They offer a free host for icons for websites. Blogger Venue’s favicon is actually from iconJ. Go to favicon gallery and choose your own favicon that would be related to your site. No need to download it.

2. Copy the HTML embed code of your chosen favicon. There are different codes for animated favicons and standard favicons so make sure to copy the one of your choice.

3. Go to your Blogger account Dashboard --> Layout --> Edit HTML --> click “Download Full Template” to save your old template.

4. After saving, back to Edit HTML and find the <head> tag. You can find it usually on the beginning of the code.

For easy look up, press CTRL F and type <head> on the textbox.

5. Paste the HTML code of your favicon AFTER the <head> tag but exactly BEFORE the < b skin  > tag.

6. Preview your blog site. If it works, Save it.
